Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer - Plano, TX

We are looking for a passionate, hard-working, and talented Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer who will be a part of every aspect of the product’s development. You will have an enormous opportunity to make a significant impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of cutting-edge products.

As a member of the team, you will be responsible for the development and launch of core product features. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product.

Key responsibilities include:

Architect New Products, defining feature sets, envelope, and target market.

Lead Design and Development of Military and Commercial Optical Systems.

Design and modeling of parts and assemblies for traditional and additive manufacturing.

Perform first order analyses such as simple stress utilizing free body diagrams, torque calculations, and weight estimates.

Independently iterate and test design approaches for rapid prototyping and proof of concept.

Practical understanding of other disciplines such as optics, electronics, and software as necessary to inform system solutions.

Capable of collaborating on multiple projects at once.
The ideal candidate is clearly passionate about new opportunities and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new features and products. A commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and strong communication skills are absolute requirements.
Minimum qualifications:

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of relevant design experience in a cognizant role in consumer, military, or handheld products using different materials and manufacturing techniques (e.g. CNC machining, lens grinding, injection molding, compression molding, insert molding, sheet metal forming and casting).

OR MS degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7 years of relevant design experience.

Expertise with GD&T, ASTM, and MIL standards.

Expertise with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, mechanical simulation tools, and Microsoft Office.

Working understanding of design considerations necessary for Printed Circuit Boards/Flexible Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) and electronics.
Preferred qualifications:

MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.

5 years of experience in electro-mechanical design.

Experience in designing man-portable military products.
-
Experience in designing opto-mechanical system.
-
Experience in designing with Creo 5.0.
